Cod Powder Coating is a quality powder coating company, specializing only in
powder coating, with a commitment to provide affordable, superior coatings
and to serving our customers needs.
Powder coating is a dry finishing process. An electrostatic charge is applied to finely ground particles
of pigment and resin, then sprayed onto the products.
The parts being coated are electrically
grounded, so that the charged particles adhere to them. The items are then
placed in a curing oven, where the powder melts and fuses into a solid coating.
The powder coating process uses a solvent free mix of plastic resins, pigments,
and fillers that melt and fuse together when heated. The solid particles of
coating are electrostatically charged in a spray gun and carried by low velocity
air to the surface of the piece to be coated. The electrostatic charge holds the
powder particles in place while the part is cured in a 400 degree oven. The heat
of the oven causes a chemical reaction to occur and the powder to cure, creating
a highly durable finish.
The result is an attractive, durable,
high-quality finish. The powder coating process is environmentally friendly and
virtually pollution-free, unlike solvent based wet paint systems. With EPA
regulations growing ever stricter, powder coating is fast becoming the
technology of choice! And since the powder coating process does not use
solvents in any way, VOC emission problems are eliminated.
We do all of our own sandblasting for
quality assurance. We know that a part is only ready for powder coating when it is
appropriately clean!
